Jan 20: Predicted Trends for 2020 – I’m On Board!

Last week I did trends that I will be avoiding in 2020. This week: trends that I love!

Leather: Leather is a texture I am 100% on board for. With a variety of price ranges, types, colors, and item styles, anyone can find a leather clothing item for them! Of course, the classic route is a black moto-style jacket. But with leather as a potential big trend for 2020, expect a variety of leather options!

Tailored: Now this “tailored” trend is expressing itself in several ways in the 2020 forecast. The most popular I have seen is a nicely structured and fitted blazer. Tailored looks are more likely to flatter frames than over-sized looks, especially on petite persons like myself! Tailored pieces can prove to balance out over-sized pieces in the same outfit. (Think over-sized jacket with a camisole and skinny jeans.)

Feminine: Another trend that is more general, more “feminine” fabrics and styles seem to be predicted as 2020 trends. This includes satin, corsets, and crochet items! If you aren’t the most “girly” person out there, you can try mixing one element of this feminine trend with a more menswear inspired piece, or vice versa. This might be a satin trench coat or pairing a corset-structured top with a pair of converse.

Looking at these trends definitely makes me excited for the year ahead! Let me know in the comments what trends you are looking forward to in 2020!

Jan 12: Predicted Trends for 2020 – Trends I’m Avoiding

Every year, there are some trends that look like they will stay around the whole year. Here are three trends that I, personally, will be avoiding for the start of the new decade!

Bermuda shorts: I’m on the petite size. And cutting off my leg line by having shorts that end at my knee is, I find, not flattering for my body type. If you have thin, long legs, this trend might be amazing for you – but I can promise it won’t be for me at the start of this new decade.

Visible “bras”: I put bra in quotes because most of these bras or more decorative than supportive. I am on the bustier side, and any of you bustier ladies that visit here can probably empathize the need for some structural support throughout the day. Any time I leave the house and/or am rather active, you best believe that I will be wearing a bra with some substance!

“Eco-conscious”: I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but a large number of “eco-conscious” lines are MISLEADING (and that’s putting it nicely). If you do decide to shop from “green” fashion lines and stores, make sure you check the guidelines or ethics page to find out what a store deems an “eco-conscious” item. Instead of shopping the “eco” fashion lines from stores like H&M, Forever 21, and other fast fashion companies, take a trip to your local thrift store. As a general rule, items from thrift stores are better quality brands for equal or lesser prices than a fast fashion store.

I hope your year has gotten off to a great start! As always, feel free to shoot me a message, feedback, or pics of your own outfit inspiration!

Announcements

Jan 1, 2020: Announcement – New Year, New Organization

If you take a dive into the blog posts menu for Zeebstyle, you’ll notice that it has been reorganized (and a long time coming in my opinion)! It took me longer than I expected with school, applications, and the holidays – but it is here to start off 2020!

Don’t get me wrong, I liked the alliteration of Fashion Fridays and Selfie Sundays. But, I didn’t have any hard rules onto what types of information or topics went into each category. Whenever I wanted to go back and look at old posts, I had to take a guess on what was wear. If I had to guess where stuff was – that meant you would definitely be doing the same thing! Soooooooo, the new breakdown was born:

Announcements: Relatively self-explanatory, I should say. However, all posts that have announcements within them will be included – not just posts dedicated to announcements.

Beauty: I don’t imagine there will be a ton of these, but I felt beauty posts (only one post right now) deserved its own section.

Closet Building: These will be posts that involve me building my closet or tips to help you build yours!

Inspiration Station: A category which I hope will become robust over the next year. This will be the place I showcase other people’s style on the blog!

OOTD: Where I shall put lookbook/OOTD related posts.

Real Talk: Talking about topics related to style. This may include body image, Photoshop, or any current events related to style.

Style Strategies: Tips and tricks to how I shop, build my outfits, etc.

Hopefully, these categories will be useful as Zeebstyle grows! If you have any questions or feedback related to the new organization, please let me know!

I look forward to a year full of style!
