Nov. 8: Styling My Pink Linen Blazer

Hello again, this week I’m continuing with the theme of styling finds from this past summer. As you can tell by the title, I’ll be styling my pink linen blazer today. My post on it can be found here.

My first styling is paired with a basic white v-neck shirt, a black faux leather skirt, and my gray converse. Overall a more casual ensemble, the light texture of the linen and the heavy texture of the fake leather create an eye-catching contrast. The shirt and shoes let that texture contrast be the center of this outfit.

For the second look I paired my blazer with a green sundress. I added a black belt which would cinch the waist for some more shape. The breezy feel matches the casual vibe of the black high top sneakers. You could also choose a pair of wedge sandals for a slightly dressier, yet still laid-back feel. I could see this outfit accessorized with a chunky statement necklace or some layered dainty necklaces and a watch.

My last look is a more covered – and therefore more fitting for a cooler climate this time of year. A floral blouse adds to the volume of the relaxed-fit blazer. The silhouette is balanced out by tight fitting gray jeans. This leads to my neutral faux-suede booties. If it’s a little chilly outside, simply slap on your favorite jacket and you are good to go!

Announcement: my posts the next few weeks will become shorter in terms of content (as you may have noticed). Finals are just around the corner for me, so if a disappear for one or two posts – never fear! I’m merely immersed in my schoolwork. Finals end in the middle of December, so I will be back to posting regularly then if I slip over the next few weeks!

July 5: Wardrobe Refresh – Pink Linen Blazer

It is no secret to my friends that I enjoy dressing slightly nicer than you average casual. I also have more than my fair share of blazers. Which is why… I got another blazer for my wardrobe refresh.

Despite my many blazers, I had yet to own a 100% linen blazer. Usually, I would avoid blazers on hotter days, knowing I could wear them almost daily when the temperatures fell in autumn.

Since that same temperature drop won’t be happening in Arizona, I thought that this linen piece would become a well-loved piece of my wardrobe. Linen is an absolute staple fabrics for hotter climates, being lightweight and breathable. The color is not overly bold, so it will be versatile to mix with other light blouses and tees.

For those looking to buy a piece that is similar (or maybe the exact same), you’ll need to embrace the wrinkle. Linen is a fabric that can and will wrinkle seconds after steaming or ironing. Secondly, this specific blazer will fit best more over-sized and breezy. It’s not a stretchy piece, so trying to go for a fitted or tailored look

When pairing it, you might find it best to pair it with a non-linen top for a texture contrast. As I am not yet fully confident embracing the wrinkly nature of 100% linen, it also helps me feel more polished – the wrinkle free top showing that my linen wrinkles are a choice and not a haphazard moment.

I would also suggest a more tailored top or pant with this type of loose fitting linen blazer, though not skin tight (If you’re wearing linen, you’re probably trying to stay cool.) Another option would be a loose fitting dress and opting for a belt to define the waist.

I look forward to showing you outfits with this blazer this summer and as I adjust to the warm climate of Arizona this fall. In the meantime, stay safe, and stay healthy!
